it's been one of those

i have been up since around 6 in the am. it's not entirely a bad thing, since my internal clock has readjusted to do that; i usually get to talk to mi corazon then, right before she has to jet for school and teach. because of this adjustment, i typically drift back to slumber within 5 minutes of hanging up the phone. that didn't happen this morning -- i ended up staying up and i'm überly crashing, to coin a phrase.

i think it's because the weather is getting more like summer, and yet spring hasn't truly let go of its grip on us: it was so muggy when the sun was out today, then tonight we were all treated to a thunderstorm sans heavy rainfall.

since i was thrown out of my regular routine, that may have accounted for my distracted self at work today, such as going halfway down the hallway to use the toilet then realizing that i didn't have the key to open the door with, or going to mcdonald's to try out their new fruits and nuts salad then realizing that they didn't put any nuts in my order. that in itself wasn't too bad, but subscribing to the adage that the customer is always right wasn't a smart decision in my part, especially since the place was relatively packed (hey, free air conditioning; i'd do that too except that i already freeze my butt off in the studio):

me: hey, where're my nuts?
wendy: excuse me?
me: my nuts. i don't have any nuts!
wendy: whoa! too much information right there....
me: no, i mean it. you didn't put any of my nuts in my bowl!
wendy: sir, i'm going to have to ask you to leave now, else i'll be needing to call the police....

i guess i just didn't have enough self preservation sense to figure that one out; or i was just too hungry and dense to have noticed. oh well. i didn't care much for buying mcdonald's from wendy, anyway.
