bloodletting

people have been asking me why i give blood on a semi-regular basis of every 56 days. i tell them the benefits of giving blood, etcetera, etcetera. naturally, their next question would be what turned me on to doing such an act, and i tell them that my parents have always been civic-minded and they instilled in me this same selflessness.

still, that doesn't quiet the inquisitive minds of some, and a question is once more thrown my way: but why continue doing it?
