snip, snip

NOTHING strikes fear into a hairstylist's heart more than the words uttered: i think i'm going to grow my hair a bit.

i made the fatal mistake of saying these fateful words to my barber when i passed by his shop to get a trim yesterday. he simply stated: you're scaring me, man. imagine that. big, burly boulder of a person uttering those words: you're scaring me, man. runs early in the morning, gets people motivated to get into shape, all around nice guy, and all i have to do is say something trivial and he goes: you're scaring me, man.

never thought that i'd have to explain myself to him. true, it didn't devolve into me trying to tell him that i have to try new things with my hair, or that it's me and not him. he didn't have to promise to change the way he styled my coif either. thankfully, he let it go when i said that it was getting colder.

one of the things that my father mentioned to me to never change would be barbers and something else. least, i get it half right most of the time.
