nihon otaku

i'm back to my old addiction of anything japanese. can i blame ct for this one? since we're pointing fingers, i might as well go further and point it at rob roy, since he broached the subject of final fantasy vii advent children, and now i'm back to wanting to imbibe a culture that i can hardly fathom.

how did i ever get into it? my earliest recollection would probably be some japanese animation import that i watched way back when i was just learning to speak. it wasn't as fancy as it is now where even the opening and end credits have been changed to fit the western society's sensibilities; you had to go through watching your then favourite characters singing or moving/running/dancing to something seemingly silly since you couldn't understand what it was they were gesturing. (i still recall singing in perfect pitch a song that i probably messed up completely since all the words were non-english.)

meanwhile, back to the present....

i cannot believe that i blew mucho money on a kimono today. well, i think that i can, since i'm wearing it right now. i've always wanted to own one, and i'd have to thank bruce lee for that purchase.

say what?

you read right. bruce lee. i originally wanted to purchase a yellow track suit that he made famous, or even a replica of it for halloween, but they were either marked in the hundreds or they were dead links that i clicked on. i thought back to what i've been recently and being the crow (which btw, had brandon lee -- the son of bruce lee -- in it) again this year didn't seem too too original.

i think back to what i wanted to be this year when i was mulling over it last year, and i mentally kick myself since i swore that i'd do my homage to crying freeman this time around. now, it's too late since i have neither the physique nor the tatoos for it.

thus, we find ourselves back to where this lame posting started: japanese related or inspired delusions. i've decided that for halloween this year, i'm going to be a kabuki player or at least as close an approximation to it as my imagination can generate.
