cinco de mayo
from a description found at Answers.com:
Cin·co de Ma·yo
n.
May 5, observed by Mexican communities in Latin America and Mexican-American communities in the United States in commemoration of the 1862 defeat of French troops at the Battle of Puebla.
[Spanish : cinco, five + de, of + Mayo, May.]
i'm not descended from Latin American roots, but any reason to go out and drink Thursday last was much needed. thankfully, this idea has been floating around and i got to hang with a few buddies. we talked about things old and new, as well as things that bound us together.
you know you're getting old when your idea of a good time is to just hang around the kitchen with some good friends and a cold cerveza in your hand.
i'm thirsty now.
