shadows from never never land
was talking to my best friend in oz through Yahoo! Instant Messenger last night, and i asked him to look into a profile of a friend.
he writes back with: just a question... why is it that you keep gunning for younger and younger girls when what you need/want is maturity?
this struck me as odd, coming from him. i had to think about it for a few, and realized that i couldn't think of a valid answer. i think that by sleeping on it, i finally have.
age from snap, as well all as these others that i have encountered, does not necessarily immediately equate to being immature. i've met a few people whom i cherish and have thoughts so profound that i have to stop and think, and they're way younger than me. i've also encountered the exact opposite; people advanced in years and yet still have temper tantrums like they're still three.
of course, maturity comes in many different levels. you could be so wise in the ways of the world, and yet be a complete greenhorn when it comes to matters of the heart. you could be so careful in things related to your work or anything professional, but with regards to personal relationships you either end up being in it for too short a time because of your own doing or because of the other party.
heartbreaks, for that matter, are numerous. it just takes a special kind of courage and maturity to move on. this, i am working on.
i think i finally told my best friend that the reason was because i didn't want to grow up.
he just said: whatever, peter pan.
