MY favorite fictional Scottish character has passed away. Well, at least the actor that portrayed him has.
James Doohan, the actor that played Montgomery Scott died at age 85 last Wednesday, July 20th. He told relatives that he wanted his ashes sent to outer space. It's appropriate, considering that he portrayed an interstellar ship's chief engineer both in the big and small screen.
No more will we hear him utter that he "cannae do it" to his captain and friend when requested to fix an integral part of the "dilithium crystal" runned engine, then actually do so. We could by watching his old work, but knowing that he's gone to where no live person has gone before, it just seems to lessen the experience.
I shall miss you, Scotty. This world has one less intelligent lifeform to beam up now.
