The Time of My Life

i was recently a part of an event in the lives of two very special people. this past saturday, Kristi Leigh Alford and Stephen Craig Taylor became one.

admittedly i've only known Kristi for over a year, and Craig even less than that, but i'd say that they're a part of the few people that i can truly consider friends that i've made since moving here, and that's saying a lot. i feel blessed for being invited to be a part of something so monumental.

it was a very beautiful service in a church that i would say i would possibly consider using myself, except that i'm more inclined to stay a bachelor now that my heart has gone to (hopefully) a better place. perhaps i'll use that instead for my untimely demise. hmm... note to self: create a last will and testament just in case.

the reception was within the same area so it wasn't an ordeal to go looking for parking. we got to the place and found myself in the same table as everybody else from work. i quipped to my boss that we've all gone to one dance function too many, since we all naturally gravitated to alternating male/female seating.

the first dance was beautiful as well. i remember seeing craig practicing by himself on the dance floor at work during breaks without kristi. he'd sometimes ask what would be a nice, tasteful, yet simple step to use that would be remembered nonetheless. i think he used my suggestion somewhere in there.

food was buffet-styled so we all stood and lined up. robert, being his typical self, had his plate filled to overflowing. it's nice to know that some things are constants in life.

somewhere in the middle of the evening, Frost asked the boss who would get married next, and my name was somehow thrown into that. i just smiled at them and kept my peace.

at the very end of the night, we all stood up and danced to that theme song from Dirty Dancing that we'll eternally have to thank Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes for singing and burning into our heads. talk about last song syndrome.

i must say, i had fun. i didn't think that i would, considering that i don't feel completely whole, nor do i think that i will, ever again. my one beef would be thus: i should've eaten something before then so that the first glass of white wine that i had wouldn't have hit me as hard. that way, i may have had the courage to go up to that chick (Rachel, i think her name is) who i think was scoping me out the whole night. then again, i didn't bother bringing my specs that night so she just might have been looking at someone else entirely.
