Casual Friday
today, i made the worst mistake of my life. it seemed like the right thing to do at that time, but now, i'm not sure anymore.
you see, today started out like any other day, i wake up, i stare at the ceiling of my room, i get my lazy self out of bed. i get breakfast, take a shower, then get dressed for work. except....
i suddenly realize that i've got 2 weeks worth of dirty laundry, and nary a clean dress shirt in sight. i contemplate whether i should go do a redux, but i remember that they're all in the laundry bin, including all my used underwear. no way was i going to wear a shirt that may have a stray pube on it. that would just not be right.
so, there i was, staring blankly at the floor, when my gaze strays to a box one of my students gave me for my birthday. curious, i open it. like an answered prayer, there was a dress shirt, just waiting to be worn, after it had made its date with the iron.
so, diligent (and left with no choice) little me, irons said shirt. it comes out well. i notice the time and nearly panic. if i didn't jet right then, i was sure to be late.
i grab the first tie i see in my dresser and leave. that's where everything just went downhill.
apparently, my shirt and tie combo was an assault to the senses. left with not much choice, i push through and decide to wear this atrocity. first order of business for work today: the daily meeting.
first thing my boss sees as soon as she walks into the room? my lack of fashion sense. first words uttered by her to me that day? what is that?! first intelligent thing i say to her today? uhhh....
thankfully, she's not one to inflict pain nor suffering unto others. she requests that i remove the noose that i've put around my neck, stating that if i didn't, it would surely be the death of me. i comply, feeling my ears burn from embarrassment.
thus, the whole day, jabs at my fashion challenged self were taken.
at the very least, i'm glad that in my haste to get to work, i didn't pick this number up instead.
