so much for my first try at snowboarding....

woke up at 6 this morning. got up, made a honey-glazed ham and cheese sandwich for breakfast while ct had honey-glazed ham and rice. we passed by the gas station, then the atm to rob ourselves and then we were off to whitetail over at pennsylvania. it didn't take too long; it was an hour and a half of straight driving.

upon parking the car, we went to get a ski package which included the rental of the snowboard and boots, as well as access to the ski lift. oh. we also had a lesson in that package.

at a little past 9, ct and i were met by rusty the instructor. he showed us how to fall on the snow, and to control and turn the board, theoretically. once our calves began to ache, we were introduced to the ski lift.

getting your butt on the lift apparently has some sort of trick to it: each lift has a 4 second interval in between and though it sounds fast, it's more than enough time to position yourself. it's the getting off that's a tad trickier.

ever tried getting off of a moving vehicle?

on the first run down the slope, i had my training wheels on. namely, rusty. he made sure that i didn't wipe out every 5 seconds. nonetheless, my forearms hurt because i apparently fell down the wrong way.

on the second run down, i had a little less time with my training wheels, and more time getting to know the snow -- be it a faceplant on it or trying to navigate on it.

still, the experience was phenomenal. i'd have to try it again, and next time i hope to do less falling and more boarding.
