i just came back from staying over at ct's for the night. we tried figuring out the laptop and we've both come to the same conclusion: it's irreparable. well, not entirely. whatever needs to be done, it must be in a hardware level. i'm not buying anything for it, and since i've no prior background in computer engineering, we've deemed it broken for now.
thanksgiving day. since i wasn't around in 1621 when the plymouth pilgrims survived winter, i don't think that i can fully celebrate this occasion. well, that's not entirely true. if there's nothing i have learned more in the past few years that i've resided here, it's that people love their extended weekends. be it to stuff themselves or be in the company of family and friends, they relish it.
i'm not too keen in gobbling down enormous quantities of food, nor am i prone to hang out with family (they've got families of their own). aside from ct, the people that i truly consider friends are miles away. what is there to be thankful for, you ask? i find myself asking the same question, time and again. here's a short list, off the top of my head:
- i've got my health (though i think i'm coming down with something)
- i've still the capacity to breathe, eat, defecate, walk, run, speak, see without the aid of anything or anyone
- i can still dream big and small
- i can still wander and wonder
this list can go on and on, but i wouldn't want to bore you. fact of the matter is, i'm still not happy. not satisfied would probably be a better term. i don't know if i can be. i doubt if the human creature can completely ever be.
i received a phone call from mi fidanzata. she's as well as she can be, all things considered. perhaps there're things worth being thankful for, and for the moment i am content.
