just finished folding most of the junk from my first load. just as i figured, i overloaded that infernal machine again. a quarter of what i put in there still needed another cycle. it works, since i put in my last laundry load in with it as well.

my grandmother's sleeping on the couch here at the den, where i get the best signal for my borrowed high-speed connection. she's had minor surgery done today and since the room that she normally crashes in when she's here is on the second floor, that has immediately become a non-option.

personally, i don't find any surgery as minor or routine. it's invasive and no matter how routinary, it's prone to complications. i'm just glad that she's okay.

it's funny though. the week prior to her procedure, she somehow got it into her head that she wasn't going to be in speaking terms with me because i'm relatively strict with my overly rotund and rambunctious cousin. who's to say that i was out of line? he's 9, and he doesn't even respect his parents. he screams what he wants, and sulks when he doesn't get it. talk about spoiled rotten.

still, he seems to be grandma's goldenboy at the moment.

thus explains the aloofness grams has had towards me eversince i told him to grab his gear from the trunk of the car that one time i picked him up from school. i mean, come on. that's not too hard is it?

i remember that one time way back when -- the schoolbus left me because they had counted the number of 2nd graders in it wrong and i, having had no concept of riding public transportation prior to that, had to walk the 5 miles home. with all my junk in a badly designed rolling bag. in streets with no sidewalks and vehicles zooming past. my cousin is in the 4th grade now. don't tell me i'm being unfair with him just because he's got to lug his crap for less than 25 feet into the house.

grams did start talking to me again. only because she needed somebody to drive her around.

i just hope that when i get to her age, my future progeny's sired won't be such.
