oh, unhappy day!

i texted my best friend today, he told me that my golden retriever's dead.

DEAD.

i haven't seen that dog for over a year, but it still affects me.

i'm pretty much in shock right now.

you see, my golden oro has a very interesting history. well, at least to me he does.

A gay couple bought him when he was still a pup. Papered and everything, oro would probably be considered as royalty -- and his lineage has been winning contests forever.

Like human royalty that were into inbreeding, so was his.

By the tender age of 6 months, all the flaws were coming out. Deformed hip, renal dysplasia, bad liver, etc.

They had the option of putting him down, but they couldn't.

sadly, they didn't want him either.

So, I find myself the proud owner of a very thin and sickly golden retriever, and surprisingly, Oro seemed to become healthier under my supervision. Sure, he'd act like such a lumbering pup, but he could now relatively run and had higher spirits.

interestingly enough, his brief lodging with his former owners left a lasting impression: he'd only hump the legs of male visitors as well as try to screw male dogs. To disastruous ends, I may add.

About 14 months ago, I had to relocate.

Moved out of my happy place, moved away from family, literally moved an ocean away.

hardest thing to do was to leave my puppies.

left instructions, left money, made a tearful farewell.

I was planning on going on a vacation and see them. was hoping that they'd still remember me.

i guess i don't need to anymore.

Oro died with a failed kidney and liver and that was leading to constant epileptic seizures every 3 hours. He had to be put down since the medicine wasn't having any effects.

i'm going to miss that stinky, slobbery brute. rest well, dear friend. i hope that they treat you well in the great fire hydrant in the sky.
